NIHR Participates in a Training Program on Addressing Emerging Challenges
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) participated in a training program organized by the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, the National Centre for Human Rights in Jordan, the National Human Rights Committee in Qatar, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The program focused on strengthening the capacity of national human rights institutions in the Arab region to address emerging challenges and was held over three consecutive days in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
On the first day of the program, Dr. Eman Al Abbo, Head, Complaints & Call Center at the NIHR, delivered a presentation on the Institution’s digital readiness in the areas of protection and promotion. She highlighted the key advancements achieved by the NIHR in leveraging modern technologies to support human rights work and enhance its mechanisms.
The training program aimed to strengthen the capabilities of national human rights institutions in the Arab region and enable them to address evolving human rights challenges amid the rapid global changes. The program covered several advanced topics, including monitoring and verification mechanisms, complaints management, the role of national institutions in protecting economic and social rights, as well as the challenges posed by modern technology and digital transformation and their impact on the human rights system.
The NIHR’s participation in this program reflects its commitment to developing the skills of its staff and enhancing cooperation with regional and international networks, in line with internationally recognized standards and best practices, and in support of fulfilling its mandate in accordance with the Paris Principles.
